Don't fear your auto!

Auto transmissions are a mystery to most of us, even those who are performance enthusiasts. Ron's book is an excellent introduction into the inner workings of the TH350. More importantly though, the book gives great step-by-step info on rebuilding your 350 yourself. It's not as hard as you would think! The book is full of informative photos and diagrams and also contains info regarding high-performance modifications. If your thinking about doing your own TH350 rebuild, forget GM manuals. This is the only book you'll need.

I can only second what the first reader review of this book sais. I was amazed how the author takes you by the hand and how he does not forget to tell you even about the smallest details you might forget about! Tackling a th350 rebuild is something really advanced, even for a quite experienced gearhead but with this book you will be on the safe side! Good Luck!

Great book, especially for a novice

Before starting my current restoration project, I knew absolutely nothing about working on cars - much less working on an automatic transmission. I purchased this book, built up my courage, and decided to attempt to rebuild my transmission completely on my own. With the help of the numerous pictures and detailed instructions, I had no problem doing my own transmission work. The author gives you a basic understanding of how a transmission works, details how to tear down the transmission, what to look for when inspecting the parts for ware, and how to put everything back together again. With this book, even a beginner can rebuild a transmission.

This is an excellent book for the facts and the philosophy of sustainable living and the development of a conscious lifestyle.
This is the second copy of this book that I have owned in the last 20 years, It is also the book that the permaculture course I am taking is based on.
This book is not an easy read, but it is dense with information, deep thought and practical applications.
Whether you are a city dweller or own your own place in the country there is much of value to recommend this book and the philosophy of Permaculture.

Work with creation, not against it!

This book will transform our planet, one household at a time. Each time I read it, common sense and wisdom are presented. What is ancient becomes new again. I bought this book because our land is sinking, cracking and the few edibles planted do not do well with the city of Houston's clorinated-flouridated-and-who-knows-what-else-is-in-there water. So until we move to more land, these practices will be learned while we are urbanites. We're in the process of planning some and taking action on others first by: installing rain water collection system, planting more fruit and nut trees with herbs and flowers, installing a whole house fan, making an outdoor second bathroom off grid for our everyday use (we're always home), amending our soil by adding sand and gypsum, and this is just the beginning. What a wealth of information. I wanted to take a permaculture course, but began by ordering this book first to see if I'd like it. I love it!

About the Author

Gabi Baramki was a major figure in the Palestinian resistance movement, who devoted his life to education at Birzeit, including 19 years as acting President of the University. He co-founded the PEACE (Palestinian European Academic Cooperation in Education) Programme, and he was awarded the Medal Palme Acad�mique by the French Ministry of Education. He died in August 2012.

Resisting Occupation to Build a Palestinian University

Gabi Baramki has written this book like he has lived his life--with great dignity and impressive commitment to the Palestinian community. His leadership of the development of higher education in Palestine, well known in the region, can now be shared with a larger, international audience. The particular focus of the book, Peaceful Resistance, is about the building of Birzeit University in the face of constant interference and harassment by the Israeli military occupation. This harassment included the prevention of the importation of needed books and journals, taxation not applied to Israeli academic institutions, the deportation of the university president, and closures--disruptions which lasted weeks, months, and in one case for nearly five years. Lamentably, Israeli universities--with the exception of a few individual professors--did not defend Birzeit or other institutions of higher learning in the West Bank and Gaza.

Dr. Baramki, who spent most of his career at Birzeit, was acting president for much of that time. In addition to the details about the building of this institution, he also weaves the story of his personal life and how his family was affected by the occupation. In spite of the occupation and its brutality, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of students and the arrests and detentions of hundreds of others, Dr. Baramki maintains a steadfast belief in nonviolent resistance and in the development of democratic practice. His is a voice which needs to be heard, especially in Europe and America, where the media tends to endorse the Israeli interpretation of events and where Palestinians are often faulted for resisting the loss of their homeland and of their personal freedom.

She earned a PhD in theoretical physics from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences Chennai and did her postdoc work at Harish Chandra Research Institute Allahabad. Her research interests include mathematical physics, many-body physics, high-energy physics, quantum computation and information, and foundations of quantum mechanics.

Another study resource

Very challenging questions. I'm using it to study for NBEO pt.1 but I haven't taken it yet. Many questions in the general pharm section (about 200q) have drugs that are not on the NBEO outline. It is probably more of a review of everything covered in optometry school, rather than being specific to boards material. Good, high-level questions for disease, neuro, and ocular pharm. More difficult than KMK and Optoprep questions. Probably harder than boards questions, but I wouldn't know yet.
