'Til Eternity: Facing the Consequences of the Second Coming, by Paul Bortolazzo

I invite you to study Til Eternity: Facing The Consequences Of The Second Coming. This Bible studyscripturallydefineschronologicallythe events taking place before, during, and after Christ's Second coming.

The Holy Spirit wants every believer to understand the eternal consequences of the coming of the Lord. The only way to comprehend this critical truth is to understand the timing of the coming of the Son of Man, the physical return of the Messiah, the appearing of the Word of God, and thedescentof the Lamb of God. All four events are highlighted in The Revelation of Jesus Christ (Rev. 7:9-14; 10:1-7; 19:11-21; 21:9-10)

Review
Til Eternity: This book scripturally defines the events coming before, during, and after Christ's second coming. Highlighted within these seventy events is the resurrection at the coming of the Son of Man, the physical return of the Messiah, the appearing of the Word of God, and the descent of the Lamb of God. What is each event? Who is involved? Where will it happen? When will it happen? Why will it happen? There is no greater warning than grasping the eternal consequences of His coming. Bortolazzo presents this very important message with love and mercy while bringing a message that the Body as a whole is finally ready to hear. Not everyone who says Lord, Lord; will enter the Kingdom, and discernment is key in these Last Days. Bortolazzo never talks over your head or uses overly eloquent speech that can sometimes belittle and frustrate Believers seeking truth about the End Times. Formatted in such a way that it may also be used also as a workbook, this book will edify and encourage the faith of every Believer, from the ten-year-old to the centenarian. --Ellen C Maze, author Rabbit: Chasing Beth Rider Outskirts Press

From the Author
As we edge toward His coming (Mat. 24:3-31), our Jesus highlights the events we should be watching for; events warning believers His coming is near at the door (Mat. 24:33) Yet today in America many pastors are teaching the Son can come back at any moment! I lovingly exhort my brothers and sisters in Christ; you cannot afford to trust your favorite bible teacher, prophecy expert, even your loving pastor concerning the timing and consequences of the Coming of the Son of Man. (Mat. 24:4-15) You know you cannot settle for anything less than the witness of the Holy Spirit. Clearly when you study and see the truth, the Spirit of Christ will always bear witness! (I John 2:27-28)

From the Inside Flap
More and more Christians arerespondingto the conviction of the Holy Spirit and have begun praying for a clear understanding of these last days!! (Mat. 24:3-33) What events will make up the future Beginning of Sorrows (Mat. 24:4-8), the days of the Great Tribulation of the saints (9-26), the resurrection/rapture of the elect at His coming (v30-31), the Day of the Lord (v37-39), and the thousand yearreignof Christ over the nations (Rev. 20:6)?

ok, Im just an old lady, no degrees, no letters after my name and Ive attended alot of different churches and denominations over the years. Ive read numerous books on the End Times and all sorts of viewpoints over the years. Some had decent research but ended with church doctrine with some conjecture and some, well.......just ended with pie in the sky wishful thinking, their research was so sloppy. There was too much deviating from what scripture actually said when brought all together. This is the First book I have read with rock solid research, documenting his position with scripture after scripture from Old and New Testaments. I found no conjecture. i am really impressed with this work and am reading it for the third time. Going a bit slower now and taking some notes for myself. I highly recommend this book for people wanting to study, to really STUDY what the word says and not just follow what they have been told to believe for years. If nothing else, it will make you start thinking about what you have always assumed you know. Very Fascinating work here.

As for the earlier poster with the sour grapes, well, all I can say is he made me laugh. The post is doing exactly what he is accusing the author of. Umm, a line about taking the beam out of your own eye first and all that comes to mind.

Read this book with a prayer first to the Holy Spirit. There is alot of eye opening revelations (pun intended :^) pieces of the puzzle fall into place and you start to SEE

I also enjoyed The Coming and look forward to reading more.

And a note to the author, Paul---Thanks for this book, it has helped me see how things are set in place by the Lord.

Hello,

I had the opportunity to contact Mr. Bortolazzo about his views and his book. I have to say, I did not get a direct response to anything of which that I had asked. An example would be, why did he feel that the order of events occurred in a particular sequence. The judgment of Mystery Babylon before or after ETC. I had just asked for the scriptures that made him hold his view. Well he ended up ignoring me (I didn't persist I met him online while I saw him speaking with some people) and he blocked me. A few weeks later I was invited into his group, which at first was warm and welcoming. I wasn't aware that it was Mr. Bortolazzo's group until his followers told him to speak with me and that he "couldn't see me" which turned into them saying he should "unblock me" I didn't know he had done so until I saw the members speak this, I wasn't sure what happened to him prior to that. He refused to do speak with me for whichever reason he had. Shortly after (about a week) people who are a part of his ministry were teaching that "God creates evil" and "only the KJV version of the Bible is safe the rest are perverted" I took a Biblical stand on the issues. The claim that God creates evil is based upon the KJVs translation of a few scriptures (Amos 3:6) which is more accurately translated as "distress" or "calamity" in most versions. Not moral "evil". But to accept this, they'd have to acknowledge that the KJV isn't perfect (no translation is 100% perfect, which is why we should study the Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and the strongs definitions)

I asked the rest of the group how they felt about what the one woman was teaching, and within the twinkling of an eye I was removed, blocked, and slandered to the rest of the group without having the chance to defend myself. I had a few friends with me in the group as well, who were still in it at that time. They told me what was said about me. Claiming that I was "deeply troubled and lost" and "disturbed" amongst other things.

The truth is, they (Bortolazzo and his close knit crew) can't handle any sort of question or debate without being fired up and claiming that you're causing problems and are deceived. If you were to rebuke them with scripture, I can only imagine how it'd unfold. I've witnessed Paul tell other believers they're "filled with the devil" "sent by satan" "doing the devil's work" ETC. Things along those lines.

He demonizes anybody who doesn't take his interpretation as ultimate truth, and uses his pride of years of ministry and teachings, boasting of his flesh as if *he's* the one who's so great and deserving glory and not God. He must of skipped over verses like "9 Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" Jude 1:9. And also with Revelation 12:10. The accuser of the brethren is the devil. People who claim to follow God shouldn't be accusing people of being "possessed" because they want to understand how he (Mr. Bortolazzo) came to the conclusions that he did.

It's a repeating defense mechanism that all of his followers (yes he's brewing a cult, if it isn't one already) have adopted and continue to do. It's either agree with their views 100%, or be insulted, demonized, silenced and pushed away.

You may be wondering why I haven't spoken of the book, and I'll tell you why. It's because of these two reasons:

1. "1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." 1 Cor 13

and

2. "15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them." Matt 7

You wouldn't subject yourself to rotten food, why subject your mind and soul to a similar source?

Seek truth, John 14:6

I wholly endorse the views of those who rightly expose and reprove Paul Bortolazzo, on this platform, for his unGodly attitude and unscriptural conduct towards Any and All, whose views differ from his own, because subsequently, it must be acknowledged that the source of his writings cannot be trusted.
For those who have spoken here about their failed, numerous, private attempts at inviting a response from Paul Bortolazzo, to discuss and reason amicably, according to the scriptural injunction, it is assured that the truth will prevail , despite invoking the usual wicked retort from satan's willing mouthpiece, Paul Bortolazzo.
The ungodly Bortolazzo, brings reproach on the Name of Christ and is assuredly to be reproved and rebuked, as one who indeed works iniquity, sowing falsehood, enmity, strife and division in The Church.
Bortolazzo brazenly feigns innocence while hiding behind the vitriolic lies he promulgates about those he has mistreated.
It has been well noted that Bortolazzo has perfected the evil habit of frequently posting on his FaceBook Page, cunningly selected extracts of Email and Comments from those he has mistreated and maligned, deliberately mis-representing them and disguising the truth of the issues involved . He does so, in order to legitimize his oft repeated false claim that he is victimised because ' his ministry is so effective ' adding the repetitious lie that 'he and his wife are bitterly attacked, not by unbelievers but by Christians, who are filled with what he delights to call '' pure hate'' and who have no idea of the deceiving spirits they are listening to' > WOW ! such arrogance, coupled with such a capacity for telling blatant lies surely qualifies Bortolazzo for the title of Satan's Stooge in the Sanctuary. So it is that Paul Bortolazzo continues to exonerate his disgraceful words and conduct and deceive his FB followers. Such appalling deception is deployed as a satanic tool against God's Elect and Bortolazzo is the voice of the accuser of the brethren. His impudent threats and false accusations will never succeed in silencing Godly Reproof and Rebuke , which OUGHT to lead him to repentance unless, as suspected, his heart is already hardened against the light .

CLIENT, CLARIFY, CREATE, CHANGE, CONFIRM, CONTINUE, CLOSE = THE SEVEN SECRETS OF CONSULTANCY

"Most change methods are effective. For the most part, each one is theoretically sound, well-researched, and clearly articulated. But when they're put in organizations, they fail-at least 70 to 80% of the time".

George Smart, Managing Partner, Strategic Development Incorporated

The definition of a consultant is someone who facilitates organisational change and provides expertise on technical, functional and business topics during development or implementation. In other words a consultant is someone who helps others to change.

However, change isn’t such an easy target to achieve. Research shows that the vast majority of change programmes fail.On a daily basis we hear about projects that are delayed, cancelled, over budget or boycotted by the end user. The problem is that we can never force people to change - remember the backlash against Jamie Oliver’s healthy school meals campaign where parents handed junk food to their children through school fences. The key to successful change is to engage with the end user and help them want to change.

The Seven Cs of Consulting offers a consistent and collaborative language that helps both consultant and client deliver value through sustainable change.Based around the author’s highly successful 7Cs model (Client, Clarify, Create, Change, Confirm, Continue, Close) this approach is simple and accessible but firmly grounded in research and real life experience.

The 7Cs approach opens up the complexity of sustainable change to the consultant and client and helps them explore- and then avoid - the real issues that cause change to fail within a more professional and trusting relationship.

Noah's Ark: Essays on Architecture (Writing Architecture), by Hubert Damisch

Trained as an art historian but viewing architecture from the perspective of a "displaced philosopher," Hubert Damisch in these essays offers a meticulous parsing of language and structure to "think architecture in a different key," as Anthony Vidler puts it in his introduction. Drawn to architecture because it provides "an open series of structural models," Damisch examines the origin of architecture and then its structural development from the nineteenth through the twenty-first centuries. He leads the reader from Jean-Franois Blondel to Eugne Viollet-le-Duc to Mies van der Rohe to Diller + Scofidio, with stops along the way at the Temple of Jerusalem, Vitruvius's De Architectura, and the Louvre. In the title essay, Damisch moves easily from Diderot's Encylopdie to Noah's Ark (discussing the provisioning, access, floor plan) to the Pan American Building to Le Corbusier to Ground Zero. Noah's Ark marks the origin of construction, and thus of architecture itself. Diderot's Encylopdie entry on architecture followed his entry on Noah's Ark; architecture could only find its way after the Flood.

In these thirteen essays, written over a span of forty years, Damisch takes on other histories and theories of architecture to trace a unique trajectory of architectural structure and thought. The essays are, as Vidler says, "a set of exercises" in thinking about architecture.

Review

Hubert Damisch is one of the very few philosophers who have taken the field of architecture seriously. This book will be the first time English-speaking readers will have the privilege of reading his provocative takes on a range of issues from geometry and perspective, to Le Corbusier and Diller and Scofidio.

(Mark Jarzombek, Professor of the History and Theory of Architecture, MIT)

This translation of Hubert Damisch's incisive and profound essays on architecture is long overdue. Among Paris intellectuals, Damisch is unquestionably alone in having considered designs and building as theoretical objects. From archetypes such as the column or the wall, to the works of Le Corbusier, Adolf Loos, and his close friend Jean Prouv, considered in compelling detail, he highlights with utmost elegance fundamental issues in architecture.

(Jean-Louis Cohen, Sheldon H. Solow Professor in the History of Architecture, Institute of Fine Arts, New York University; author of Architecture in Uniform, The Future of Architecture Since 1889, and Le Corbusier: An Atlas of Modern Landscapes)

Drawing from an enormous range of historical subject matter, from the Renaissance to the present, Damisch probes not what architecture was but what architecture is -- what kind of knowledge, what kind of thing, the philosophical nature of its existence, and how architecture functions as a fundamental postulate for our being in the world. Reading Damisch writing architecture leads us through origins and ends, disciplines and practices, and produces sheer exhilaration of architectural thought.

(K. Michael Hays, Eliot Noyes Professor of Architecture Theory, Harvard Graduate School of Design; author of Architecture's Desire)

Unnatural death: Confessions of a medical examiner, by Michael M Baden

* JFK's autopsy failed to disclose crucial evidence.
* The deaths of John Belushi and Elvis Presley were far more complex than anyone has let on.
* Decisive medical findings in the von Bulow affair were consistently overlooked.
These are but three of the shocking revelations in Dr. Michael Baden's first-person, no-holds-barred account of his distinguished career in forensic pathology. In determining the causes of tens of thousands of deaths, from those of presidents and rock stars to victims of serial killings, exotic sex rituals, mass disasters, child abuse and drug abuse, Baden has come to the unavoidable conclusion that the search for scientific truth is often sullied by the pressures of expediency. He produces dramatic evidence to demonstrate that political intrigue, influence peddling, and professional incompetence have created a national crisis in forensic medicine.
"A fascinating look into the mechanics of forensics and a disconcerting lesson in the politics of death." -- The New York Times Book Review

Amazon.com Review
Forensic pathologist Michael Baden was a medical examiner in New York City for more than 25 years. Now he works for the New York State Police and teaches forensic medicine. This engrossing book covers: (1) several famous cases, including Baden's personal re-examination of the autopsy findings for Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy; (2) unusual cases Baden had as medical examiner for NYC, such as an autopsy on a dining room table at the Plaza Hotel; (3) how medical examiners decide on means of death, with a section on poisons; (4) the history of coroners and medical examiners since 12th century England; (5) disturbing politics involved in the office of the Chief Medical Examiner of NYC; (6) identification of the dead; (7) time of death; (8) multiple-murder cases; (9) an almost perfect murder; (10) close calls, including near deaths during sex; (11) cases of mistaken diagnosis; and (12) autopsy findings that shed light on what happened in the Attica uprising.

From Publishers Weekly
The function of medical examiners is to perform pk autopsies and determine causes of death; examiners must be expert in forensic pathology. Baden here "delivers a sobering indictment of a system in which, he claims, fewer than a thousand physicians nationwide are qualified to conduct this work," maintained PW.

From Library Journal
Baden, formerly Chief Medical Examiner of New York City, is an angry man with a message. He persuasively argues that medical investigations of unnatural deaths have been hampered by politics, money, position, and religion. Family wishes, political expediency, and actual medical incompetence often make for bungled autopsies or the true cause of death not being disclosed. Using his forensic skills, Baden analyzes some famous cases--John F. Kennedy, Nelson Rockefeller, John Belushi, and Elvis Presley--as well as many lesser-known but very perplexing ones, sometimes leading to surprising conclusions. Breezily written, this reads like a collection of mystery stories. Recommended.

Baden Brings Death Alive
By Book Woman
After you get past this author's overweening ego, he has a great story to tell. First, he educates you that his specialty is forensic pathology, meaning that as a doctor he focuses not on the living but on the dead--and their three kinds of unnatural deaths (suicides, homicides, and accidents) and the traumatic causes thereof (e.g., drowning, asphyxiation, gunshot and stab wounds, blunt force, poisoning, overdose, etc.). He explains the three traditional signs used to determine how long a person has been dead (temperature, color, and stiffness) and gets you thinking about toxicology screenings so that you enter the main body of the book more prepared for what follows.

And he tells his story as an insider, as indeed he is, being one of the most renowned MEs in the world. When he says, for example, "Where bungled autopsies are concerned, President Kennedy's is the exemplar," we listen. He goes on to give a rather definitive answer to questions that we have all wondered about, as told from the prospective of the evidence: Oswald acted alone, Claus von Bulow didn't do it, Cathy Smith did give Belushi his fatal injection, and so forth. His stories of less well-known folks are no less compelling, and Baden does a good job of leading the reader through the gory and technical details to a scientific conclusion. Ideally, however, one should read the companion volume of his friend, Dr. William Maples, in tandem with this one. He is a forensic anthropologist who does with skeletons what Baden does with "fresher" evidence. All in all, a good read . . .

Coroners & Big City Politicians are on Different Pages
By Russell A. Rohde MD
"Unnatural Death: Confessions of a Medical Examiner" by Michael M. Baden, MD and Judith Adler Hennessee, ISBN 0-8041-05999-5 (p/b), Ivy Books 1989 - is a 215 page disclosure by a seasoned pathologist and NYC medical examiner (25 years & Chief ME 1978-79).
It is a well-written and indexed (7 pages) mind-probing study of many high-profile cases of unnatural deaths (suicides, homicides, & accidents) & some unsual but natural ones. Dr. Baden discusses some of the little known but extremely significant political intrigues he encountered, revealing facts known only to certain medical examiners, DA's, politicians in high office and prominent family members.
The introduction describes the pseudo-victimization "abduction" of T. Brawley (1987) and 12 chapters follow with Chap. 1 detailing Dr. Baden's selection to head forensic pathology for the 1977 Congressional Select Committee on Assassination (JFK); Chap. 2 his studies at Bellevue; Chap. 3 some notes on Elvis Presely, the Nurses Perez & Narcisco Pavulon deaths prosecution blocked by Imelda Marcos, and the ricin death of Markov (1978); Chap. 4 with concise notes on history of coroner system and Chap. 5 details Baden's confrontations with NYC Mayor Koch, Manhattan DA Robert Morganthau, and Health Commissioner Ferrer over handling of the David Levine, Willie Welch, Robert Soman, and Nelson Rockefeller cases, to mention a few.
Chapters that follow are lucrative and revealing of forensic science at its best and politics at its worst. The accusations against Claus von Bulow of twice trying to murder his wife "Sunny" by insulin injections revealed a frightening tribunal jungle of medical & legal specialists whose main concern was (evidently) to thwart possible perceived malpractice charges. For unrevealed & appalling details of the 'preppy murder' of Jennifer Levin by Robert Chambers (discussed on the Larry King show Aug. 26, 2002) look in this book. This is a no holds barred book, a must read for those who "thought they knew what happened" really didn't happen and vice versa.

The best of the two . . .
By Dallas H.
I thought this book was better than Michael Baden's other book "Dead Reckoning." This was a very interesting read. I learned a few things about the industry of medical examiners and forensics. I wouldn't recommend this book to those who have a weak stomach, because the author doesn't hold back the details in quite a few areas of the book. For those people who love C.S.I. (you know, that popular forensic television show?) or are simply curious about the industry this book will be an interesting read! I even gave this book to some friends of mine and they enjoyed it just as much as I did. The style of writing makes the topic easy to understand for the average Joe Smoe. Good book, I like it!

Review

"In my 34 years as an academic I have never been nearly as much impressed by a book as I was by this one”

“It is so beautifully and extensively illustrated that it rekindled all my enthusiasm for understanding the natural environment and how it functions”

“The modest title…massively understates the worth and content of the book. I have no doubt that it will fast become an internationally acclaimed text not just in Geography Departments, but in Environmental Science Programmes too”

"…it discusses a host of topical major environmental issues, and sets them in context in a clear and understandable way”

“…its content will span 3 years of an undergraduate degree programme and beyond"

Professor Malcolm Cresser, Environment Department, University of York

“…the most welcome contrast with other introductory texts is the inclusion of a range of contributors within an edited volume, that ensures each section is written by a subject specialist”

Dr Richard Waller, School of Earth Sciences and Geography, University of Keele

"A superb introductory coverage of Physical Geography and allied environmental disciplines. Undergraduates will greatly appreciate the accessibility of the text, with its well-developed structure, informative box features, and extensive website links”

Richard Michael Johnson, University of Central Lancashire

“It is well written, up to date and at an appropriate level for first year university students”

“The excellent coverage of hydrology and geomorphology sets it apart from many of its competitors. Material is covered in enough detail that I would expect students to come back to this volume as supporting material for higher level courses"

Dr. Martin Evans, School of Geography, University of Manchester

"...there's a most interesting section dealing with human interference with sediment patterns adding a useful dimension to this topic."

"...dryland systems and desertification covering, in a short space, an impressive randge of ideas from natural and human agents to changes through time."

"There are a range of features in each chapter adding up to an impressive presentation."

"There's also a companion website with an impressive range of resources from student flashcards to presentations for teachers"

"Overall this is a most impressive text. It covers a very wide range of ideas noting not just basic concepts but current techniques making it ideal for the student wishing to take the subject further. Coverage of case studies is truly global and not just keeping to one area"

"...thorough and detailed with more sophisticated explanation which would make it ideal for the good senior student, educator and undergraduate (where it deserves to ben seen as one of the key introductory texts)"

Dr Paul S Ganderton, the Teaching Ecology Group's Book Review Editor

http://users.bigpond.net.au/paul_ganderton/index.htm

"Its coverage of topics is perhaps the widest of the four books. I am also impressed by the placement of the acknowledgements at the front, along with detailed further reading in each chapter."

"There is a nice introduction to Quarternary change."

"This book is my favourite of those under review."

James Casford - Durham University

Review

From the reviews of the first edition:

The legacy of this benchmark publication will be its unparalleled success not only in correcting misunderstandings, but also in further informing readers about the nature, methods, and processes of indigenization in psychology. The book moves indigenous psychology closer to its aim of discovering genuine universals through a melding of the content of psychological phenomena with the contexts in which psychological phenomena are situated. . . This book is essential reading for psychologists and graduate psychology student interested in how psychology as a discipline is being transformed by local, national, regional, and global trends that are driving culture into the forefront of contemporary life. - Michael J. Stevens, PhD, DHC, President-Elect, APA Division of International Psychology

In this globalizing era, mutual understanding across cultural and ethnic lines is a key prerequisite for a progressive and booming world, but what is less obvious is that this understanding is rootless if not grounded in context. This volume provides a state-of-the-art review of the issues and substance of indigenous and cultural psychology and the importance of understanding in context by a slate of luminaries in the field. This collection of essays is comprehensive and insightful, and is definitely a must-read for those who are interested in culture as well as in the peaceful co-existence and synergistic collaboration of diverse cultural groups.- Kwok Leung, City University of Hong Kong, Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon, Hong Kong

The indigenous psychology perspective has grown to become an important force to be recognized in the development of a global psychology, and Kim, Yang, and Hwang assemble a cadre of the world’s leaders in this movement. This volume represents a tour-de-force in the area, providing the latest, state-of-the-art scholarly information in a wide range of relevant topics. It highlights the importance of an understanding of people in context, a view that much of psychology has forgotten over the years. This book should be mandatory reading for psychologists from all backgrounds and perspectives, and will be a valuable addition to personal and institutional libraries worldwide. - David Matsumoto, San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA, USA

New ideas in "psychology" are extremely rare but this book presents a uniquely new idea about applying the framework of psychological analysis in a global context. Up until now indigenous psychology has been stereotyped as exotic and has been almost entirely defined by its opposition to conventional psychological theory. This book gives the construct of indigenous and cultural psychology an independent existence and separate reality. . .This book provides the conceptual basis for separate status to indigenous psychology as an independent theoretical framework in its own right. The field of psychology will be forever changed by this book for those who take the time to read it. The book provides a new paradigm for understanding human behavior from a global perspective that is sadly missing in most if not all psychological textbooks. - Paul Pedersen, Professor Emeritus, Syracuse University and Visiting Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Hawaii, HI, USA

This much needed volume fills a gap in our "understanding of people in context." It addresses a basic debate in cultural and cross-cultural psychology, that is, whether the unique-universal dynamics is to be construed as contradictory or complementary. The many contributors, well known in the field, shed light on indigenous and cultural psychology, covering a broad range of topics from philosophical perspectives to understanding of self and personality, from family and socialization to cognitive processes, from theory to applications. The book provides an alternative to mainstream "Western" psychology and much food for thought for the intellectually curious reader in grasping both the diversity and commonality in human psychology from a global perspective. - Cigdem Kagitcibasi, Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey

"The volume is quite timely. … The book is a pioneer in indigenous and cultural psychology … . it is quite comprehensive, comprising no fewer than 30 contributors, all specialists in indigenous and cultural psychology. … Indigenous and cultural psychology challenges the mainstream, traditional understanding of the nature of people, compelling us to rethink, in radical, fundamental ways, our assumed basic theories of personality, perception, cognition, emotion, development, social psychology, and the like." (Ruth Chao, PsycCRITIQUES, Vol. 51 (42), 2006)

"This 518-page book contains contributions from 30 international experts. The material covers a wide geographical area … . The choice of topics is also wide, including interesting insights regarding child development, personality and cognitive processes. … This volume has helped me gain a better understanding of the cultural contexts which some of my clients come from. … This book has a very readable style, is well referenced, and has a useful subject index. I recommend it to anyone interested in cultural psychology." (Dr. Debbie Hawker, The Psychologist, Vol. 20 (1), January, 2007)

"Indigenous and Cultural Psychology surveys psychological and behavioral phenomena in native context in various developing and developed countries … . With this book, the editors have captured a growing field at a crucial stage in its evolution. Indigenous and Cultural Psychology benefits students and researchers on two levels, offering groundbreaking findings on understudied concepts, and signaling future directions in universal knowledge." (Anthony J. Marsella, International Journal of Mental Health Addiction, Vol. 4, 2006)

From the Back Cover

It was once assumed that the bedrock concepts of psychology held true for all the world’s peoples. More recently, post-modern approaches to research have expanded on these Western models, building a psychology that takes into account the sociopolitical, historical, religious, ecological, and other indigenous factors that make every culture, as well as every person as agents of their own actions.

Indigenous and Cultural Psychology surveys psychological and behavioral phenomena in native context in various developing and developed countries, with particular focus on Asia. An international team of 28 experts clarifies culture-specific concepts (such as paternalism and the Japanese concept of amae), models integrative methods of study, and dispels typical misconceptions about the field and its goals. The results reflect culturally sound frames of reference while remaining rigorous, systematic, and verifiable. These approaches provide a basis for the discovery of true psychological universals.

Among the topics featured:

  • Scientific and philosophical bases of indigenous psychology
  • Comparisons of indigenous, cultural, and cross-cultural psychologies
  • Socialization, parent-child relationship, and family
  • The private and public self: concepts from East Asia, Europe, and the Americas
  • Interpersonal relationships: concepts from East Asia, Europe,, and the U.S.
  • Factors promoting educational achievement and organizational effectiveness in Asia
  • The growth and indigenization of psychology in developing and developed countries
  • Are any values, attitudes, beliefs and traits universal? Cross-national comparisons
  • The potential for indigenous psychology to lead to a global psychology

With this book, the editors have captured a growing field at a crucial stage in its evolution. Indigenous and Cultural Psychology benefits students and researchers on two levels, offering groundbreaking findings on understudied concepts, and signaling future directions in universal knowledge.

Finally a vast tome giving a more clear explanation of the differences between western and eastern psychological constructs that is devoid of the romanticism of Euro-Americans fascination.
This should be required reading in all American Universities Psych 101 courses as to show different models of self other than the American models that are being exported to other countries via American textbooks and Pharmaceuticals.

World Indigenous Psychoanthropology Research Center
By Gholamali Shamlou
In Uichol Kim's (et al)"Indigenous & Cultural Psychology" (2006),
contributors scholarly & thinkfully argue that indigenous psychology requires each culture to be understood within its own frame of reference & also examined in terms of its own social & ecological context; the essential areas that cultural anthropologists do study & research cross-culturally as well.
The contributors also present deeply aspects of their own indigenous psychology, demonstrating the diversity & what I call wealth of psychoanthropological mind & knowledge and/or science to be obtained when attention is paid to the world indigenous research & study traditions. According to two of the book's contributors, "Indigenous psychology is an integral part of cross-cultural psychology. Whereas cultural psychology has taken the extreme stance that the essence of culture is unique in its symbols &significance so as to preclude meaningful comparisons between different cultures, the accepted definition of cross-cultural psychology includes two basic dimensions: Universal psychological phenomena across cultures & psychological phenomina specific to cultures."
At the moment, however, "Psychological Anthropology" is the most commonly used term for all of those different sorts of research into cultural variations in psychological processes. The basic question, as Karl Heider (2004)notes, "driving research in psychological anthropology can be formulated as follows: How does culture affect personality (or cognition, or perception, or emotion, or mental illness?)."

Who was Lucy, Aside from the contents in blurb.
By romance reader in WP
First, I am not knocking the author's work. I'm Only stating why it didn't work for me. I liked the story summary, which is why I chose the book. And the cover is alluring. However, there is No chapter identification here which gave the impression of reading a paper instead of a novel. There was no clear picture of what the lead wanted. The character development was minimal at best. I just didn't connect with the characters. The writing didn't move along and there were too many repeated words. " Lucy couldn't see Ophelia pout, but she could swear she could hear it." Maybe not the best example, but there's plenty more. For me there was no meaningful dialogue which seemed to drag the story along. Even when it was clear who was speaking, in three consecutive pages of dialogue between the lead characters the conversation lines ended with "he said, she said." The author didn't bother with giving the father a name, well at 19% of the way you know for sure that their last name is Johnson. I'm trying to be constructive here but there are just some basic things as a reader I want to know and names are one of them. If they are worth mentioning they should have a name. I had to read great deal of the book to know what city the story takes place in. Anyway, this is my first time reading this author, so I'll try another book and I like it more.

Fabulous!!
By james lee webb & Sharon Lee Webb
I'm still reading the book, but so far it's been entertaining. I did find a little problem, one is with the bodyguard Jason. Sometimes it is written James instead. And second, twice part of the story was repeated, not much but still repeated. I checked on my kindle fire and fire phone, it's the same on both. Other than that it's a great book.

Nice book, but needs editing
By Lena B.
I liked the book and the character was sweet. Not so deep or developed, but okay. Just would have liked if the author could keep the names straight, the H changed last name three times and one time the h thought about the H but used the bad guy's name...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Standing over six feet tall, Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair of a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.

He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works.

LOTS of answers to longstanding questions in this installment. DON'T miss it.
By styler
Moeller's "Ghosts" series, and now the "Ghost Exile" series, is one of my guiltiest pleasures. I'll drop everything else when I realize that there is another book available. I've often tried to figure out just why I love these books so much. There are so many reasons why I wouldn't.

Moeller is almost a throwback to another time. His writing style is stiff and serious, and more suited to the pulp fiction of the 30's than to contemporary tastes. The books are all action based and action oriented, with very little time spent by the characters in introspection. It's pretty much "eat, sleep, kill people, kill monsters, repeat". Yet -- there is just something about these books.

Lately, Moeller has become more adept at character development. I will never expect to see his characters really become insightful, or understand why they do what they do, except in the most basic of ways, but recently, I've seen a lot of growth in his style.

His plots are always captivating. He has an incredible imagination for this kind of fantasy writing. His world building is impressive, and he is consistent. When you read about creatures or landscapes in one book, you can expect to recognize them 6 books down the line. Every detail is correct, and builds on the ones before.

His action scenes are heart stopping. He writes clearly and carefully, and every leap and spin, even the ones that are physically impossible, (except in his books), can be visualized to the finish.

I am mesmerized by these books. I don't know why, I just am. I will read every single one of them.

Also recently, I've noticed another trend that Moeller hasn't been, in the past, all that good at. There is humor and wit spread throughout the series, now. His dialogue is always very stiff and unrealistic, which can't be explained by the fact that the books take place in a fantasy world. None of his characters have ever displayed much of a sense of humor, except in very simple terms. In this book, however, we're treated to lots of snarky remarks and actually funny dialogue. His characters are developing distinct personalities with distinct ways of looking at things.

Morgant the Razor, for example, has become one of my favorite guys. While all the characters are "observers" (because most of them are spies or assassins), Morgant has risen above this to become an observer who tries to unravel the folks he has decided to cast in his lot with, however reluctantly. We also get much more of his interior dialogue than with the rest, with the exception of Caina. His is NOT in love with Annarah, which was my first assumption, nor is he particularly filled with the burning desire to rescue humanity from, well, everything out there. He was, at first, simply "keeping his word" to rescue Annarah. He knew where she was, but also knew that there was no chance that he could go get her. She was hidden in the Inferno. Yet, even after the rescue has taken place, he can't seem to leave this band of thieves he's joined. He's a loner by nature, and seemingly an indiscriminative despiser of people, in general. And, he doesn't have any real love for any of these characters. On the contrary, he picks them apart constantly, in his mind and to them personally. Yet -- he is staying.

Nasser Glasshand has always been one of the most mysterious characters in this series. (Who the Heck is this guy???) Well - he's not what anyone imagined, and we DO find out, in this book, exactly who he is, and what his story is. Nasser has always displayed a sort of sense of humor, but it is a gentle, semi-mocking, and, actually, self-deprecating kind of humor. He doesn't really want to hurt anyone. He's always above the fray, and yet is so accomplished and competent, that when the group finds itself in battle, which is every few pages, he outfights and out-thinks almost all of them. He has an overarching view of events, and a path that he is following. We get to learn what that is, in this book.

Another character who has captured my imagination is Azaces. We also learn all about him, in this book. And, it is also a tremendous surprise. We've had absolutely no interior dialogues from him in the past, and don't get any here. It's almost as though Moeller has decided that because he doesn't have a tongue, and is mute and illiterate, that he doesn't think to himself at all. Azaces becomes more of a pivotal character in this book, and saves the day in a way that is altogether unlike everything we've come to expect from him. He has always been reactive - he protects Nerina. Period. In this book, he becomes proactive, and through his actions, the group survives, and the Inferno is destroyed.

And the Inferno is destroyed. We already know that wherever Caina goes, there will be lots of explosions and fires. Lots of destruction, on a mega scale. This book kind of takes that into different territory. The destruction of Maglarion's bloodcrystal, the destruction of the Craven's Tower, the Day of the Golden Dead, etc. were all spectacular finishes, and yet the destruction of the Inferno rates its own category within all the demolition that follows Caina wherever she goes. This one is really breathtaking.

Sulaman appears here, in an unexpected way and place. We do NOT learn, in this book, who he is, and how he knows everything that he seems to know, and yet, as we've always known, he is someone extremely important. I can't wait to find out who Sulaman is.

And, then there is Kylon Shipbreaker, of House Kardamnos, former Archon, nobility of New Kyre, brother of Andromache, stormdancer. Kylon Stormdancer. It's probably no surprise that he is my favorite. We aren't treated to very much of his interior life, and what there is, is pretty straightforward . He wants revenge. He kind of likes being anonymous now. He loves stormdancing his way through life. He's falling for Caina, and doesn't quite know whether that is proper. He's always going back and forth, in his mind, about his overall plan of exacting vengeance on those who killed his pregnant wife, and how best to accomplish this. And yet, like all of the other members of this band, he's pretty much solidly wedded himself to them and their larger goals. He also loves Caina, whether or not he really knows it yet, and he always has, despite marrying Thalastre at a time when he needed a wife and family. His position as a leader of New Kyre demanded this, and he chose her. But, even back then, we would be privy to his conversations with his wife, when she perceptively informed him that he was thinking of the Ghost, and not her.

The story has come around to the point where they are clearly intended for each other (a development that I have waited through many books for). I knew this would eventually happen, all the way back to the destruction of Marsis, and the chase through the streets, where Caina and Kylon tried desperately to kill each other. Or rather, he tried to kill her, and she tried to elude him and defend herself. These defensive actions of hers ordinarily result in the deaths of many folks, and would have been the result here, except that Kylon is a match for her. And she is to him, which was an astounding situation for him to find himself in. Even when he had the clear opportunity to kill her, at the end of that book, he just couldn't do it. She was magnificent to him, and worthy of living. So, now the Stormdancer is part of the group, and is moving towards claiming her.

Moeller has grown as a writer while I've been reading him. (I've also loved Mazael Cravenlock, the Demonsouled, but not anywhere near as much as the characters in this series.) Moeller is beginning to write his characters as real people. They have emotions that he understands, and he is showing us who they are. I love this. I love when characters examine themselves and try to understand their motivations. I love it when they question themselves. It always gives me a more enriching sense of ownership when I follow their lives. And, I DO own these characters. It's why I love this series so much. They have all become real to me.

This is, hands down, the best book of the series so far. We get answers to questions that have existed for many, many books. We've enjoyed the characters becoming more fully fleshed. We've felt the satisfaction of watching a relationship beginning that I know is right. (Corvalis wasn't the right man for Caina, and I have whined about that in previous reviews.) We have taken mega steps ahead in this book, plotwise. We now know where the regalia of the Princes of Iramis lies hidden. We also know who the shadow is who has been stalking Caina, and what her game is. The central theme of the next book is laid out for us at the end of this one, not in a cliff hanger sort of way, but in a way that simply whets our appetites for the next part of the story.

The next installment of the story will be available Summer of 2015. I know it's probably physically impossible to write any faster, especially when Moeller has so many other series in progress, but I wish that he would just write this series 24/7. I really do love it that much. There are only a few long series that command such devotion from me. (I'm actually kind of curious to know who would win out if Moeller and Lindsay Buroker published books on the same day. Probably the Ghosts.)

5 Stars. Absolutely. Classic Moeller, and each book gets better than the ones before.

Another excellent addition
By Amazon Customer
I don't know how Jonathan Moeller continues to make excellent additions to an already excellent series. In this book, we find Caina and team attempting to find and free the last Loremaster. We get to see views from other beloved charcters as the story progresses. Personally I loved the witty dialogue between one my favorite characters Morgant, and everyone else.

Morgant-"My associate and I arrived in the nick of time."
"Yes" said Kylon in a flat voice, " What he said. That is what happened."
Morgant-Gods but that man was a terrible liar.

"Brevity is a virtue" said Laertes. "One you would do well to cultivate."
Morgant-"At my age it would be a crime to deny the world the benefit of my wisdom."

Morgant claimed to only kill people who deserved it, but she noticed that restraint did not extend to anyone who attacked him.

Morgant- "A man of my age and diginity is entitled to a lasp of perception every so often."
"You use your age quite often as an excuse, I note," murmured Nasser.

Without giving much away, let's just say Caina does what she does best. Whether that be rescuing those in need, blowing things up, breaking and entering, and coming out on top. Major secrets are also revealed and important information ends up in the wrong hands. Did I mention we also get a lot of stormdancer action.

Love this series. Kudos to the author for continuing to give us quality with quantity. I can't wait for the next adventure with Caina.

Excellent
By Mary
I chose the 5 stars because it was an excellent book, it kept my attention and my curiosity at all times! I loved the way the characters kept shifting and changing. The only thing that I had an issue was either the editing or the fact that it was purchased via a kindle, some of the sentences were lacking pronouns hand/ or nouns. I still gave it the 5 star rating because the book was written in a way that kept me reading. I would definitely recommend this book to my family band friends. Excellent job Mr. Jonathan Moeller!!!!!
